Le cinéma « Le Molière » devenu municipal en 1984 est le dernier établissement proposant des projections sur grand écran à Pézenas.
Créé en 1918 par messieurs GOURON et BARTHES, il se nomme alors « Les variétés ». En 1960, M. Bardalou succède à Madame Cauvin et à M. Balestier, et transforme le lieu le rebaptisant « Le Molière ». Les cinémas Lux et Odéon exploités à Pézenas durant cette même période ont aujourd’hui disparu.
Sous la responsabilité de M. SEGUIER depuis 1997, le cinéma le Molière fait l’objet d’aménagements, d’améliorations régulières, tant en terme d’accueil (installation d’un grand écran, du son dolby stéréo, lecteur son etc.…) que de politique de programmation.
Par ailleurs le Molière se tourne plus particulièrement vers le cinéma d’auteur, les films en version originale ainsi que les soirées débats.
Le partenariat avec les établissements scolaires est également privilégié.
Classé établissement « art & essai » le Molière propose toutefois régulièrement des films grand public et tient a appliquer des tarifs accessibles à tous, jouant ainsi son rôle d’outil culturel populaire.

Version Anglaise: Le Molière cinema has been a state owned theatre since 1984 and is the last establishment offering cinema services in Pezenas. Created in 1918 by Mr Gouron and Mr Barthes, it was then called "Les Variétés". In 1960 Mr Bardalou's successor was Mrs Cauvin and Mr Balestier who transformed the establishment and renamed it "Le Molière". At this time there was also the cinemas Lux and Odéon in activity in Pezenas, however today they no longer exist. Under the responsibility of Mr Seguier since 1997, the cinema has known many renovations and improvements in terms of the presentation (new large screen with Dolby stereo, and sound system, etc.) and programming. Today Le Molière is moving towards showing independent films (cinèma d'auteur), films in their original language and debates. The cinema also has a partnership with the local schools, which is very important. The cinema Molière has been awarded the label "cinema d'art et d'essai", which means that it is obliged to show a certain number of films in the original language, as well as independent films. It also shows blockbuster films and keeps the entrance fees accessible to all allowing the cinema to continue to be a cultural place for all levels of society.
